"The 21-year-old Brantley was a seventh-round Draft pick out of Ft. Pierce (Fla.) Central High School in 2005, and he's compiled a Minor League average of .311 and on-base percentage of .399 with 53 doubles, seven triples, six homers and 157 RBIs in 383 games over the last three years....At Huntsville (AA) this season, Brantley hit .319 with 17 doubles, two triples, four homers, 40 RBIs and 28 stolen bases in 36 attempts over 106 games. He started 62 games in center field and 21 each in left field and at first base. He had 50 walks against just 27 strikeouts, and Baseball America rated him as having the best strike zone judgment and the best baserunning skills in the Southern League. " (indians.com)

"We're going to look at him as an outfielder in center or left field".
"...he'll be in Triple-A. That's an indication that he's not that far away"
Is Shapiro in the market for a lead-off-batting center fielder in the next year or 2? (Grady seems like the easiest guy in the mlb to lock up for the rest of his career, since he doesn't even pay attention to what his agent does. Plus I think he would gladly turn down NY/Cali/Chi money just to stay out of the major market limelight.)
How good a prospect was that Class A third baseman Taylor Green they also could have taken? I guess he is too far off to help with our current third base predicament.
But the important thing is that picking this guy up is yet another excellent reason to outright release Delucci (even if someone wants to trade a sandwich or marble or something for him) and trade Choo before people take the time to look at his defense.
